When the angel came to Mary and told her she would be with child.
Her heart was full of acceptance.

Mary’s song Luke 1:46-56
“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me~
holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

Can you imagine such wisdom from someone who was just told,
“you will be with child and he will be a special child and you will be his mother and you are chosen out of many…”
Mary you are the one chosen.
I can’t even imagine the heart of this young mom and in the quiet of the night as she laid her hand on her rounding frame…did she wonder…
did she worry…
did she question…Why me Lord?
The book of Luke said that Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home. It doesn’t tell us but I think Elizabeth was a great encouragement for Mary.
Both were expecting. Both were sharing ‘a same story’.
I am very glad they had each other.
