We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.
God is the friend of silence.
See how nature, trees, flowers, grass
grows in silence.
See the stars, the moon, and the sun
how they move in silence.
We need silence to be able to touch souls.
quote by mother Theresa
(photo from heart and soul photography used by permission)
Have you ever just sat in silence and listened to sounds around you.
Have you allowed yourself time to hear the birds in the air or
the wind rustling or the surf crashing waves off of jagged rocks.
Sending out ‘beautiful ‘sounds’ of nature and powerful lessons if we choose to listen.
I love to sit in the quiet of the day.
And just listen
to whatever is around me at the time.
I do believe God is found in silence.
We hear him when our chatter is silenced.
We hear him when our hearts are quiet.
We hear him when we feel restful in spirit.
Perhaps that is why He said, “Be still and Know that I am God.”
Being Still is the hardest part.
How is it for you?
Can you be still and know the quiet is good and nurturing to our souls?
Be still and know that he is God (then listen to the silence).
I really identify with this post. My blog was started because of spending quiet time with God out at the pond and a healing of my heart took place. I also sit out in my back yard and rock on my front porch, all quiet spots where He meets me.
So nice to be here and "meet"you:)

Sharon! Look at your header. You are getting all fancy and stuff. It looks wonderful. And that photo is gorgeous. It really illustrates your words so well. Trying to slow even more during this season. Listening is good 🙂
LOVE silence, stillness. don't get enough of it with this brood of seven running around… i take hold; grasp those fleeting moments when i can… they renew.
This is a great post. I have to remind myself often that I can't hear Him if I am talking or not being quiet. It is hard, but I try to force myself to be still and listen.
I do love the quiet and it is so important for us to find that time, as you say.
Growth in silence…needed that reminder today. God has led me to remain silent in a frustrating situation over the last five months. As the problem has escalated over the last few days, the urge to speak has been strong. This post is timely for me in that "Be still and know that I am God" is the verse that kept my mouth shut this far.
